Hiking weeking in the Alpstein Area

Last weekend 4 friends of mine and me took a trip to the Alpstein Area located within the Appenzeller Land. We arrived on Friday afternoon at Bürlisau, parked our car at the cablestation and took the direct path up to Bollenwees and stayed there for 2 nights.

On Saturday we took the following route:

We just returned from our summer vacation. This year it lead us to Greece, Rhodes. Within 10 days we visited most attractions of this beautiful (and hot island) and spent quite some time at the beach - finally enough time to read some books and spend time with Lisa and Anja.

Hey, at least I'm still alive (somehow...)

While thunder is hitting Wurmberg really hard I thought it's just about the right time to write another rather interesting blog entry to document all the crazy things that have happened since last December:

  • 2009 has arrived
  • I started coding again (this time objective-c and cocoa and it's really hard for me to get used to that stuff)
  • Our garding is nearing it's completing
  • ...and Porsche is going into a direction I never imagined possible before...

Within the next 2 weeks my new bike from Focus will hopefully arrive and I guess this will reduce my free time in front of my Mac even more - so don't expect the frequence of Blog entries to increase. But I'll promise to update this page from time to time.

Enabling Garbage Collection in Cocoa

Enabling Garbage Collection in Objective-C is pretty easy, if you know where to find the setting for it:

1) Double Click on the Building Target

Step 1Step 1

2) On the "Build" Page, search for the "Garbage Collection" Build Setting and set it to "required"

Step 2Step 2

3) You're done.

This is what I call a decent working space. Anyhow: Work's done (at least regarding Porsche) for this year, 3 happy week of vacation of hopefully enough time for some happy Cocoa coding...This is what I call a decent working space. Rome

The ancient supermarket of RomeThe ancient supermarket of Rome

This years anual city trip took us to Rome.

We left Baden Airport on Friday evening and arrived there again on Sunday at just about the same with our friend, the Prince of Oman. This time, he didn't join us on our flight we super-exclusive Ryan Air, but took his private 747 to get to Baden Baden.

In total a very packed weekend, basically the condensed version of the Japanese "see Europe in 5 days"-scheme.

Anyhow we did see everything there was to see: Lot's of ruins, churches, a tossed salad for dessert, traffic jams on expert-level, the pope (thank you Mr. Ratzinger for stopping by ), the most modern elevator in the world, new transportation concepts and, did I mention all those churches?

School Enrolment

Today Lisa had her first day at school. A big event for everyone - including us.

Seeing her to grow up is one thing. Finally understanding that she's big now and no longer a kindergarden kid is another story. Sometimes I can barely await that she's getting older. On days like today I realize that time is passing fast. Way to fast to grasp all those memories and store them in your brain.

Anyhow telling her that we had to do some grocery shopping after lunch, we took a ride with the car. But instead of heading to the local grocery store we took her by surprise by heading to a circus which was just stopping in our town.

In other news: The construction of our new home is nearing its completion - despite all last-minute-works and problems and final errands to be done. We're all quite exhaustet at this time but if everything goes well, we'll move into our new house on next Saturday.

Rohbauer insolvent
